Rukh Foundation

Rukh Foundation was started 35 years ago by Rukhsana Izhar, who began cooking daily meals for ten to fifteen people in her neighborhood. That act of sustained generosity now reaches 1,500 people per day and supports a K-10 school teaching 180 children — most of them first-generation students whose parents never attended school.

The foundation's impact was extraordinary but invisible. Donors outside Lahore had no way to understand the scale, consistency, or dignity of the operation. The story was staying local when its lesson was universal — and international donor funding was being left on the table.
